CHOPPING FIST CONNECTION DRILL
This drill is used to train how to use your contact point to ” climb up ” your opponent’s arm. Your partner will grasp your wrist with a same side grip. Your partner will then step backward pulling your wrist with their step. Drill your grasped fist slightly upward inside your “egg” * . This action if executed correctly will tie up your opponent’s strength , creating a still point to pull yourself in accelerated by opponent’s stepping force combined with your waist turn . The feeling is similar to pulling yourself along a rope in a storm . It is also like climbing up your opponent’s arm. Use his pull to accelerate your palm into is chest and your lead foot into his center in one action. This action will also make your striking palm Yin with more penetration .
***(Your egg is the zone in which you can freely move your arms without disturbing your center/balance/posture . Once you reach outside of your imaginary egg , your arms will pull you with them and out of your root. You can divert a pull upward,downward, even sideward if you stay within your “egg”. Your “egg” will define itself through dedicated standing training .)
