One of the things that I noticed that was different from training with BP Chan compared to other teachers was that he taught you how to use your health exercises in a martial way. Most teachers back in the day not only didn’t know the exercises but had no depth to share with their students. Mr. Chan was full of details. No other teacher I have trained with discussed the details that he discussed. We would posture test everything. Until I can move smoothly through my exercise with someone trying to stop me, then maybe it is not producing the skill that I am looking for. The following footage shows me moving through one repetition of the first of the eight brocades. The first brocade teaches one how to make upward ,downward ,forward and backward power with the use of the spine. This is a small example of this type of practice .
