This footage shows the use of the posture ” Fair Lady Weaving at the Shuttles ” From Yang Family Taijiquan . There are several aspects to this posture and this section of the form. This Posture is based on the use of the shield and spear. The posture closes defensively and opens offensively. The closing can result in a lock or a break. The opening can result in a strike or a lock or a break depending on how the two postures come together. The turning of the foot with the body helps to support the strength of the movement while making the turns. This concept has been discussed on earlier videos. Another aspect of this section is keeping the legs in a relatively tight position when in defensive activity. The stance only ever really opens when it is striking.
