One of the important things that we study is sinking versus dropping. Dropping creates an external momentum that can be followed. Sinking on the other hand is not expressed externally via movement. No momentums are created leaving nothing external to follow. There are many ways to the mountaintop. One method uses Jin to support the structure when it is actively moving. Another method matches the rising movements with internal sinking . Success in this method is to match the inner and outer rising and falling in terms of quality and speed. It is important to be mindful of your active and passive qualities . You do not want to feed your opponents power via your connection. Instead you want to make space for his power so that it may pour out of him and weaken him. “The value of a vessel is in it’s emptiness”. This is one of the most important lines from the Dao De Ching .
