TIGER STEPS AND TIGER ROARS TO HEAL THE LUNGS
The Five Animal Frolics are a form of Medical Qigong in modern terminology . They are actually a 2000 year old Dao Yin exercise. There are five animals that represent the five zang and fu organ pairs . The Bear, Deer,Crane , Monkey ,and Tiger . Each animal can be trained seasonally as the five Solid and Hollow organ pairs are optimally “overhauled” during certain seasons . These exercises are trained in certain cardinal directions to obtain the best results . Your lungs detoxify and heal best during the Fall Season. The Tiger is the Animal that is practiced to overhaul the Lungs . Facing West the Practitioner stands in a natural stance and and inhales drawing their hands upward to the Solar Plexus guided and guarding the hands with the eyes. The Practitioner then exhales Guiding and guarding the hands with the eyes downward gazing no more than 45 degrees below the horizon. Then continuing to press downward into the gravitational centers of your own feet as the eyes move in balanced opposition to the hands . Repeat this cycle five times . These are the Opening and Closing Movements. The first Tiger Frolic is called Tiger Steps . The action is accompanied with a gentle and audible “HA” sounded exhalation . This sound releases heat from the pericardium which allows the heat to exit the Lungs. When enough heat is resolved , the exhalations will become productive . i am speaking from experience with these exercises as i have always had respiratory issues . Stepping to the Left ( for men) first with the heel touching the ground , the hands extend from the Navel left over right ( upper hand middle finger to lower hand index finger) while inhaling . Sink and turn to the left causing the hands to hook, claw, and separate outward and downward with an AHN force ( caused by raising the crown point/ eyes in balanced opposition of the hands downward movement ). Then repeat on the right side . i practice the Tiger until my lungs are clear and this takes about 30 minutes ( if i were sick) for all of the Tigers . The Tiger Roars is the second of five Tiger Frolics . The actions are the same as in The Tiger Steps except the hands extend from the throat height and the “HA” sound is as loud as you can make it . This exercise has turned a several month Lung clearing into several days and it is a priceless to me . It is also priceless in that i always have it at my disposal and it cost me only a few minutes of my time . Hot /Spicy/Pungent foods will dilate the Lungs and make for a more productive clearing . Pears or Cashews or Almonds can moisten dry Lungs and can get obvious results in a couple of hours maximum . All of the above is not acquired knowledge, but it is experiential knowledge from 30 years of dealing with Respiratory Issues . I know this will be helpful .
