Using coiling to make my opponent run head on into my strike
The following example has me demonstrating several applications of the posture Pi Shen Chui from Yang Family Taijiquan. One aspect of using coiling in one’s movements is that you may reel a person into an oncoming strike creating a “head on collision “. This is not the same as William CC Chen’s “double explosion punch”. William’s punch compresses down into the opponents pelvic basin causing the opponent to resist upward with their legs (seeking stability) creating a double compression from their legs combined with Williams punch. This example uses elements of silk reeling to whip the opponent around into the strike. This type of action is also prevalent in the posture single whip. It has the duel value of both destroying the opponents posture while using their own force to add to your strike. When the silk reeling is done properly your partners body parts will fall into your hand. There is no need to seek their body parts. In this example I stop as soon as I feel Aaron’s face . BP Chan used to say ” it’s simple: turn to the left, turn to the right”
Good stuff! Thank you Sifu
