USING THE EYES TO GENERATE AHN JIN
BP Chan spoke about this action for 2 hours one day . i paid attention and endeavored to develop this skill. i then began the task of applying this concept to all of my actions . i read about the training of a famous master who said that he trained for 15 years before he was made a Tudi or Closed Door Disciple . When asked what his first lesson as a Tudi was he replied ” The harmony of the eyes and hands ” . This concept can be applied to all movements and involves the ” Eyes Guiding and Guarding ” . When one connects the movement of the hands with the movement of the eyes, they are adding the power of the spine to their movement . This is the basis for Chan Si Jin or Silk Reeling Energy . This also helps to meld the Spirit and Intent to the movement . It is important that the eyes are aimed with the spine either in turning or in elevation . The eyes must not move without the waist turning or the spine opening. Using the clock as a reference , i use the eyes to guide the hands up from 3 and 9 o’clock to 12 o’clock . i will get stuck if held when looking/starting below 45 degrees below the horizon ( 3 and 9 o’clock) . When lowering the hands , my eyes start at 12 o’clock and guide and guard no lower than 3 and 9 o’clock. The most important part is moving downward from 3 and 9 o’ clock to 6 o’clock . It is critical that the eyes/spine/crown point move back upward in balanced opposition of the downward propping force. The feeling is similar to propping oneself up on parallel bars. This produces the Ahn Force and if applied to the joint crease of a resistant arm will pop your partner up on their toes . When this happens, one will hold their breath and have no functional strength . this is a good time to strike. This example shows the martial application of ” Punching with Angry Eyes” from the Eight Pieces of Brocade .
