WEAVING THE MECHANIC INTO YOUR MOVEMENTS
BP Chan spoke of the opening and closing of the form as well as the opening and closing of the Five Animal Frolics for over two hours one day . This alerted me to the importance of the subject matter. Essentially, you never look upward, on downward more than 45 degrees . You will become unstable if you do . You can also harmonize ( Guide & Guard) the movement of the eyes and hands. If you point your eyes straight ahead and level , then you will have to open and close your spine in order to elevate or lower your line of sight. (The spine furls and unfurls from the top to the bottom ). This connects the eyes with the spine . When you guide your hands with your eyes, this connects the whole body power of the spine with the hands . Once you understand and can do the cycle in a natural stance, then you want to apply that concept or principle to all of the movements in your form . These actions can also be harmonized with the breath , coiling, sinking and Spirit . Basically you want to weave all of the principles together and time them so that they all begin and arrive together…that is our daily work.
