Practical kung fu – bending to touch your toes
There is a relationship between the upper and lower parts of the spine . When the chest is full , then the lower back will hollow. If you maintain this fullness in your chest when you’ve bend down to do daily tasks, it will strain your lower back unnecessarily . When you learn to release the .Xin (heart/mind) then the chest naturally empties and allows the lower back to curve in the correct direction for a forward, bend without straining it. This allows not only more flexibility, but prevents injury and discomfort. I hope that you find this helpful in your training, and in your daily life.
