Honoring a global tradition · Last Saturday of April
One World, One Breath.
An annual global gathering of internal arts practitioners — across more than 80 nations and hundreds of cities — held on the last Saturday of April.
Next: Saturday, April 24, 2027
World Tai Chi & Qigong Day was founded in 1999 by William and Angela Wong Douglas. Every year on the last Saturday of April, practitioners gather at 10 AM local time — beginning in New Zealand and rolling westward across the planet — for a shared moment of breath, movement, and intention.
Today, hundreds of cities across more than 80 nations participate, from Israel to Iran, from the United States to Russia. It is one of the largest sustained mind-body events in the world.

Tai chi and qigong are no longer fringe practices. Decades of medical research point to real benefits for stress, balance, chronic pain, sleep, focus, and longevity. World Tai Chi & Qigong Day exists to remind the world of what these arts have always offered — and to invite more people in.
The day is not about any one school or style. It is about the shared work of slowing down, breathing, and remembering we have a body.
While we are not hosting an event this year, every day this school exists is in service of the same intention this day represents — making these arts available, transmitting them carefully, and welcoming new students.
If you have been considering starting, today is a good day. If you have been training for years, take an extra moment outside today. Wherever you are, you are part of something larger than your own practice.
