STEP BACK TO REPULSE THE MONKEY KEY POINTS

When applying Step Back to Repulse the Monkey , It is important to WRAP the grasped hand by first yielding , following , and grounding your opponent’s pulling force. Following the grasped hand with your own centerline, you drill down and into your opponent’s root . This grounds out his pulling force and ties up his strength . Once the force ties up , coil out in reverse and wrap the back of your palm along your opponent’s forearm. The palm will sit in the center third of the forearm ( 3 fists wide ) controlling both ends of the forearm . The arm is whipped over by the waist’s turn and retreating step. The retreating step pulls your insistent opponent’s center into your waiting palm. This will cause a head-on collision between your opponent’s center/chest/face and your rooted and receiving palm. This will not work if your own palm is out of center or your shoulder tight or your elbow out . It will not work on an opponent who lets go to save his center. When your opponent becomes yin/re-centers go right in with them to their own center ( that they led you to ) .

It is refreshing to see someone who understands the movements and can clearly explain what is happening. Thank you.
